Much has happened since our January 2010 newsletter was sent. I will begin with the most important: the family. As the children have grown taller, the adults have become smaller (thanks to Weight Watchers and a lot of exercise)!
Rose is making preparations for the upcoming move back to Hungary – trying to sell a house, getting Daniel ready for college, etc. Marion continues her home school studies as a brilliant 6th grader. She will be wearing a dress this spring that she designed and sewed. Daniel will graduate as both the valedictorian and Star Student from high school in May. He received a Presidential Scholarship to attend the University of Southern Mississippi where he is also in the Honors College and plans to major in polymer science.
I (Dan) left Mississippi at the end of February and traveled to Ft. Lauderdale to take part in a mission conference organized by a Brazilian church. On the first night I was the translator for a Hungarian minister and then the featured speaker in the second service.
Immediately upon my return to Hungary, I had the inside of the house painted. Meanwhile I was off to minister at the Bicske Baptist Church before having my colonoscopy exam and an oncologist appointment: All is fine!
In mid-March we had the Hungarian Church of God National Leadership Conference in Hajdúszoboszló with approximately 60 Hungarian church leaders. Our guest speakers were Paul and Lilli Lauster along with Rafael and Renee Lastra. Three minutes before the scheduled lunch on Saturday, Renee went to the microphone. All of a sudden the presence of the Lord filled the place and the translator could not even continue. After that, no one wanted to go to lunch! We left the conference knowing that it was not by might and now by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord!
I will be leading the worship and speaking at the International Church of Debrecen on Saturday and then ministering in Oradea, Romania on Sunday. The International Church of Debrecen has outgrown its present meeting place and will move into the conference room of the Aranybika Hotel in downtown Debrecen. I will lead the worship each week during April.
Later this year, my family will embark on a new church planting strategy in Budapest. We will share more about this later.
In closing, we need your prayers and support, especially during this time of great change.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
