November 15, 2010

Greetings from Hungary!

In our last newsletter we told of the miraculous happenings for us to sell our house and to buy another. It was truly a series of miracles – especially considering that the house caught on fire just days before the sell of the house. Maybe what we forgot was the word persecutions in the passage from Mark 10: 29 – 30!

So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.

First of all, the insurance company has still not paid for the fire damage. Please pray with us about this!

Second, we found out that the house we were selling did not have an occupancy permit. I have included an account of this in another letter. We finally got the occupancy permit and were able to proceed with the selling of the house. Only after getting our final payment for the house that we sold were we able to finalize the purchase of the house in Velence.

Meanwhile we have been living in a rented apartment near Budapest. We moved our furniture and boxes into this rented apartment until after the renovations are done on the house that we purchased. The renovations will include a new heating system, plumbing, electrical, bath, etc.

Weeks ago we planned a concert for our new church plant in Budapest not realizing that it would be at the same time that we were closing out a house and moving 285 kilometers (177 miles). We praise God the concert went well and was well attended.

Rose had a skin cancer removed from her nose. The dermatologist sent it off to the lab and the results should be back next week. At her check-up, another place was found on the shoulder and the doctor sent her to have this removed immediately. It had a long root and the doctor was glad that it was found in time. This has also been sent to the lab but the doctor feels that it is not malignant.

Also, we are looking forward to Daniel’s visit during the Christmas season.

Please pray that all will go well as we proceed with renovations, building up the church and all else that is involved.

In His Service,

The Smiths: Dan, Rose and Marion
